(5.31.08) Radio-gaga
THIS Tuesday June 3, visit Lake George Radio to see and hear us LIVE via webcast. Show is 7 PM and we're very happy for the invite. The show will be broadcast NATIONALLY on Radio Ugly. Awesome.
On Friday June 6th, 5 PM we play The Bayou in Albany. One of our favorite venues. Expecting a really good crowd so we suggest arriving early and getting a couple orders of the alligator tail. No kidding...it is excellent and comes with a delicious side-sauce.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
(5.29.08) 2 Years, 90 shows, Lots of Work
We play tomorrow nite: Mountain View Sports Bar in Fort Ann. 21+ and an 8 PM start.
In two years we've played 90 shows, recorded one album, with another on the way, and we've appeared at 35 different venues...each show is about 3 hours of playing, so that's 270 hours of being on stage together. Not bad kids. Our first show ever was Cinco De Mayo 2006. Here's to many more and THANKS to all the venues who have welcomed us, and the folks that come out for making this a possibility for us. Also big ups to all our sitters-in and such. We is what we is.
Show 91 is at the Bayou in Albany Friday June 6, 5 PM.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
(5.22.08) Memorial Day Flak-end
The sun gets welcomed in this weekend, Flak style. Friday night we're at George Henry's in Warrensburg and Saturday night we'll perform as a duo at DJs Niteclub in Lake George.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
(5.9.08) Busy Weekend
Tonight we're perfoming as a duo at Ravenswood in Clifton Park, 8 pm.
Saturday we're at Villa Valenti's in Troy, it's our first show there and we're pretty excited about it! We go on at 10 pm. It's almost right in Alex's (new) backyard. Michelle Howland will sit in on bass.
Thanks to Joe G for the gift---a Boss loop station---it's aiding Liam greatly in writing parts for the new album. We keep saying we're almost there and discover we're not nearly there yet. So it goes!
------------------------------------------------------------------------
(5.3.08) Free Rock at Rock Hill
We're playing Rock Hill Bakehouse in Glens Falls tonite! Free CDs during the show. 7:30 PM, two sets, and all ages.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
(4.29.08) Fun Trip/Rock Hill

Our trip to Plattsburgh/Paul Smiths this past weekend was fun as hell, thanks to those who came out to the shows! We're scheduling another trip for this fall.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
(4.24.08) Willie Nelson Song Title Here
We're very much looking forward to our trip to Plattsburgh tomorrow nite. We'll be downtown at The Monopole Friday, and Saturday night we're playing at Samson's in Paul Smiths near PSC.
We had a great show last Friday night at the Bayou...try the Dead Guy draught. Great stuff.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
(4.1.08) Busy Downtime
We're making new music, sharpening our teeth, and chillin' for a couple weeks---but gearing up for a seven-to-eight week string of shows. We're back Friday April 18 @ The Bayou (Albany), followed by our North Country trip, then Flak's gigging at least once weekly until the end of May. Can't wait. Lots of good things on tap this spring and summer, so stay tuned.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
(3.25.08) North Country Public Radio Interview

------------------------------------------------------------------------
(3.21.08) George Henry's
We will see all y'all crazies (we mean that in a good way) tonight at George Henry's, purely and simply a party spot that makes us smile every time out. Great venue. Go Patriots...17-14. Ha! Showtime around 9 PM. 21+ no cover.
Liam is car shopping...and is holding Alex's guitar hostage somewhere north of Saratoga.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
(3.17.08) Flak (mini) Tours
We're going to start traveling farther from Flak HQ on select weekends, and the first such trip is April 25/26. We're doing Plattsburgh/Saranac Lake...The Monopole on Friday and Samson's on Saturday. Thanks to RNK Bookings for taking us on. Flakjacket in a hotel room after a show sounds fun, although the hotel might think not. Free food is sweet, although our figures are going to pay for it. As musicians and friends, having a chance to do this kind of thing is pretty cool. In any case, we're very much looking forward to making trips like this part of our reality from here on out.
Mike and Alicia Fromwell are pleased. "Mrrrmmmf," Mike said.
This Friday March 21st 9 PM: we're at George Henry's in Warrensburg, home of Todd Trulli and the coldest beer in the North Country.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
(2.28.08) New Demo/Scratch Tracks Done
We did about four hours of recording last weekend, and all the songs/ideas for the new album are tracked in rough form. Some of them are on our MySpace. We're listening for extra parts and arrangements/changes at this point, and have our work cut out for sure. We're taking our time with it...but the process is started. We also have recorded a new demo for handing out to potential venues. It's pretty cool to think about adding new spots. Along with the great regular gigs we have already, it's gonna be a busy year. Thanks to Jeff Britton at Porkchop.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
(2.22.08) Plans Mice & Men
We are busy finishing up ideas for the new album, we're going to be tracking some new songs this weekend along with songs already finished. Tons of fun. So far we have Hagfish, End of Summer, It's Not Right and Even As I Bleed, along with Pirhana, as definites. Pirhana is a Stem cover, we'll try to do it justice.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
(2.21.08) Porkchop Studios Weekend
We have carved some time out this month to record a new demo at Porkchop Studios in Glens Falls. Jeff Britton of the Joe Mama Band will be engineering it. We've been using our original demo to grab gigs since July 2006...uh...yeh, time for a new one. Also, some "professional photos" of the band are on the way.
Our next scheduled show: Friday March 7 @ The Bayou in Albany.
New record news: You can hear demos of some of the new songs on our MySpace page (links page on left).

------------------------------------------------------------------------
(10.11.07) NPR and the white Terrence Trent D'ArbyLiam here, we have this weekend off...so I'm just checking in with my take on our recent sessions. Turns out we made it through a big cut; 50 bands applied and 9 were selected. Here's the deal:
We recorded our NPR tracks last Thursday, 10.4.07...the recording was done in a large acoustics-friendly dojo in the main office complex at Roaring Brook Ranch in Lake George/Lake Luzerne. Joel and Jill were great to work with. We shot the shiz with them for a little while after we finished and learned that Jill is a wine enthusiast, and Joel a beer connisseur (Joel is Flakjacket's style). They headed over to the Log Jam per our approval...I hope they got the steak...does it get any better?
We ended up recording three new songs and one oldy-but-goody. "Speechless" has been recorded about as much as Dylan's "Blowin' in the Wind" except never by anyone cool; just us. We rocked it out though, and now we have a solid acoustic take of the song...its a much truer sound to what we do live...thumbs up. We did all of the songs acoustic with drums, (PROPS to session drummer Bill Frandino)...so all of the songs came out a little closer to the way you will hear us at a show regularly. Plus Joe B. has his Quadrapuss preamp installed and it tore the roof off the joint.
"The End of Summer" is a jazzy/rock number featuring lyrics that long for a cocktail poolside. Although the weather lately would permit it, soon the pool will turn into a fenced off reminder that winter is upon us...and our cocktails will be fridged in the comfort of our heated homes. This song far surpassed my expectations. I thought it was going to be good, but until today I wasn't sure what Joe B. was planning on doing for his key-line and Bill F. and I were still shaky on the rhythm. But we nailed it, and Joe's line is the bees knees. Alex's lyrics and melody are straight outta Compton, and my backing vocals will remind you of a white Terrence Trent Darby...whatever happened to that guy?
"Hagfish" is a tune that Alex and I wrote about some of the seedier individuals that we have encountered in our lives' travels. A hagfish is an aquatic creature--sort of eel-like, but thicker in girth--that feeds upon other fish to achieve its necessities. We have known a good amount of people who just suck the life right out of us to get where they need to go. You'll relate when you hear it. "It's Xanax Time..."
"Its Not Right" is a song I wrote when I was in love. I had a long distance relationship that ultimately changed my life; for the good and/or bad...I am not sure, which...but nonetheless that's what the song is about. It's a slow ballad of which its power I still feel to this day. When I wrote it, I was in a great deal of pain over the issue and I made some decisions that I have grown to regret based on those feelings. It's good to let go though. Music is great for that.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
(10.2.07) What Happens When Alex Is Home AloneBentley's in Malta this Saturday 10.6.07 9:30 pm.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
(9.26.07) NPR and RocktoberWe've been selected by NPR to do some recording in October, couldn't be happier and thanks to those who considered us. It's part of UpNorth Music, a grant from the Rockefeller Philanthropy Fund, and well, we're honored.
Ravenswood in CP this Saturday 9.29.07 8 pm.
Bentley's next week in Malta (10.6) and a slew of shows in October, PLUS the return of Joe Barrows on the Rhodes w. a new effects processor (a QUADRAPUSS). Rock on.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
(9.20.07) By JeezumWe know we need to update this site...and, well, we did. Just added a mess of shows kids for the fall so we'll see you out there. Here's hoping that hot chick we met in Averill Park is reading this. And the answer is yes. We kid, we kid.
We'll be playing The Albany Bayou this Friday, our second show there and it is one of the coolest Happy Hour joints we've played so far in this long strange trip. Todd H will be sitting in for Joe.
We really do appreciate all the support, bookings, and well wishes we get. Thanks.

We're one year old! Our first show was 5.5.06. Since: 46 shows at 24 venues, shows with 12 different bands, and we released our first record. Thanks everyone.
We have just one show booked for May...we saved some time for rehearsing and writing new material. HOWEVER, we're excited to announce our first show at Lyons Lake Inn on 5.18.07. The venue is in Nassau, NY. Check out the shows page for details.
You must have noticed the photo of Flakjacket's newest member, Mr. Joe Barrows, on the front of the site. He a sick musician who can pick up keys, bass, or sax, and he adds a lot to Flak. Joe has played/plays with the Dirk Markham Band, Bob Smith and the Joneses, the Willie Playmore Band, and others. He rocks.
Alex here: I can't wait to write to the new stuff that Liam has been working on. Each new idea gets better and better. Lots of stylistic diversity, even a tune with Liam on lead vox. May is going to be a great month for some DIY tracking and getting creative.
Our first show at Jillian's in Albany on 4.27.07 went well. Thanks to the staff...you have to see Dennis the bartender's "Cocktail" imitation. Amazing.

(4.19.07) The Rumors of Our Demise Have Been Greatly Exaggerated...
We've been very busy playing a lot of shows and quite honestly have neglected the website due to some crazy family stuff. We just made some new updates to the site and we are looking forward to playing some awesome new venues soon, please check out the shows page for details.
This weekend: Flak duo Friday 4.20.07, Skyline Albany, private party 7 pm. Saturday 4.21.07 Town Tavern Averill Park 9 pm, Joe B on the keys.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
(4.1.07) No Fooling
The Psychoneedles/Flakjacket show at George Henry's in Warrensburg was great. The 'Needles are a hell of a band to watch...that's how it's done kids. We're looking forward to the next time we can catch them live.

But please go to the show anyway and check out Psychoneedles. Cool guys. And you can also see them out at George Henry's in Warrensburg with us on Saturday, March 31. Trust in us, a great show, one that won't happen often in this neck of the woods.
There are so many days to be thankful for. But there are also days like these. F it. Take that sh$t on the chin, and keep on. A death in the fam, a totaled car, but still alive.
Friday's debauchery (Last Resort, Rotterdam) and Saturday's "CAMPJACKET" show (Mulligan's, GF)are still a go. See you then.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
(2.23.07) Caffe Lena: Vintage
"I have never allowed myself to succumb to the money-making attitudes of music clubs who insist that the artists they engage must be established in the field with national reputations and best-selling albums. The coffeehouse should be a showcase for deserving artists as well as established musicians. Educate your audiences to expect the best in musical talent, familiar or unfamiliar, and always be governed by the dictates of good taste."
-Lena Spencer, founder of Caffe Lena

Hey folks...you have to check out "The Pick of Destiny" by Tenacious D. Song fifteen "The Metal" is freakin' addictive. The link will take you to a hilarious website...enjoy...and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

(12.23.06) From the School of Whisper Singing
Liam here: I've got some important news! A new vocal technique is on the rise in the world of rock. The invention of whisper-singing helps every note to come out sounding the same, if at all. The greatest attribute that a whisper-singer can boast about is that a whisper-singer always sounds "cool." If you are an aspiring whisper-singer, I'd say invest in a quality microphone, a pair of Oakley sunglasses for night wearing, and A LOT of condoms--you'll need 'em! How do you think Hugh Hefner, John Holmes, and Ron Jermey got their starts in the world of smut? Thats right, they are all classically-trained whisper-singers! Whisper-singing originated in Hollywood, California in 2003. Starving actors have chosen new career paths by honing their skills as Bill Pullman wannabes (known as Pulmanians) and joining rock bands in or around major cities, such as LA and San Fran. Cali couldn't hold these phenoms within its borders. Whisper-singers are taking the world by storm and are popping their collars in Ohio, Africa, Germany, Japan, and lately, Glens Falls, NY. It's no disease, its a revolution. Do I smell Calvin Klein's Obsession? Sorry, I should have whispered that...
Alex here: Check out some of Liam's "other band" Burning Man on the Projects page...and Happy Holidays! See ya next weekend at Slow Jed's (Sat) and Mulligan's (Sunday NY Eve w/ guest guitarist MICAH SCOTT)!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
(12.15.06) Busy, Guests, Cassandra B
Liam here: I'll playing solo tonight 12.15.06 supporting Alex's "other" band, Whisper to Apocalypse. Heavy sh&t. Alex and I are also performing as Flakjacket at some point, too. It'll be a loose, fun night of celebrating the holidays with good friends.
Saturday night 12.16.06 we're at George Henry's in Warrensburg, NY, a great venue that is playing host to more and more live music...show is 9:30 pm. We'll be accompanied by my brother Tim on percussion. New instrumentation, new blood, more fun. Other dates with guests: New Year's Eve 12.21.06 , Mulligan's: Micah Scott (guitar, Zion's Door), Friday, 1.19.07 Irish Pub Andrew DelSignore (bass, 3DF).
I'm also excited to tell you about a new artist on the regional horizon: Cassandra Bacon. The word on the street is that Cassandra is recording two songs with our man, Marc Fuller, at Edie Road Recording Studios in Greenwich, NY. Marc did an outstanding job engineering and producing our album Angels&Fireflies...while staying true to our wishes. It's good to see more local artists recording right in our own backyard. With a voice as beautiful and passionate as this 20-year old singer/songwriter, not to mention her undisputable chops as an accomplished pianist, you should expect a parsimonious work of polished, yet unfiltered musiArt. She ain't too bad on the eyes either.

(12.6.06) CD Release Part 2/Tobiaz Top 40
Flakjacket's "Walking Away" is up six spots on the Tobiaz Top 40 this week...champagne for all! Check out "Walking Away" on 102.7 WEQX Sundays between 7-8 pm, on our MySpace, or on the music section of this site.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
(12.3.06) Weekend Musings
The cold is here. Break out the skull caps.
Visit our frieds 3DF and the Joe Mama Band online...and also a venue we'll be playing for the first time on Dec. 16, George Henry's in Warrensburg, NY. By the way, we were lucky enough to catch Joe Mama and the 3DF boys last night and they're both must-see bands.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
(12.1.06) New
December is finally here. We'll be playing our shows as an acoustic duo from now on and we've made some changes to the site to reflect our new optimism.
Liam will be adding his vocal touch and class to the sets more often, and we've already started writing some brand-new original tunes...it's like a breath of fresh air to get back to writing songs.
Thanks to: Pat Ripley of the Whitehall Times for the great CD review on 11.30.06...we'll be posting excerpts from the recent spate of good press we've gotten to this site shortly. Adam Baldwin has been busting his tail on the site and we appreciate it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
(11.30.06) Thanks
Thanks for a great CD release party--about 200 people showed up! We're looking toward a full slate of spring shows and have just booked two great new venues. Check out the shows page for details and be sure to listen to 102.7 WEQX for Flakjacket's "Walking Away" the next few Sundays between 7-8 pm.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
(11.22.06) CD RELEASE Tonight
We'll be playing three or four sets tonite at Mulligan's. We'll have a mess of Cds, stickers, and new songs for you. We're excited as hell to start sharing the music we've worked so hard on.
...we're expecting a great crowd. 10 PM, 21+, no cover...the bar is located just off of Warren Street, on Shermantown Road, Glens Falls, NY. To prepare to celebrate you can check out our MySpace...we've uploaded four tracks from the new record. Lastly, check out some new photos of the band on the pictures page.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
(11.19.06) Flak Ghosts Haunt 'EQX
Flakjacket thanks Jason Irwin and 102.7 WEQX for playing "Walking Away" on WEQXsposure Sunday nite...were ghosts in the house? Who knows...who knows? But we appreciate the airplay.
--------------------------------------------8 pm.-----------------------------
(11.18.06) Bad Hair, and More
The music player is now live. Sample the record.
Liam blogging below, and a word or 250 about haircuts. Read with caution...
LIAM: Did you ever get a haircut and the stylist has more faith in you than they should? It happened to me. The female salon employee that cut my hair recently said that I NEEDED to start using "product" in my hair. Apparently its become a necessity. Not being completely opposed to "gellin' like Magellan," I agreed to let her cut my hair into her favorite masterpiece of a style. She was hot, so I thought "what the hay..ir?" (if you didn't get that joke, read it again, if still confused--laugh anyways. Its (webmaster edit here: almost) funny. Anyways, when she finished she showed me several ways to style this new "do." I was impressed with the look of each style and tipped her handsomely. When she told me "you could style this haircut a number of ways" what she should have said was that SHE could style it in a number of ways. I can't style it for shit. Lately, I've been walking out of the house wearing a helmet of wax that I just feel like rubbing out halfway through my first class (If you are 13, I give you permission to laugh at "rubbing out"). Anyways, I have a long history of horror stories in the world of hair...holla at a brotha. Email us or contact us at MySpace.
See you at Mulligans for the insanity of the CD RELEASE on 11.22.06 10 pm.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
(11.16.06) And the Big Day Approaches
Alex here. Just want to say thanks to my bandmates for all the hard work, and some thoughts and notes on the upcoming release of Angels and Fireflies. See ya at Mulligan's in Glens Falls on Wednesday, 11.22.06.
1. The album was produced by Marc Fuller. Mastered by Larry DeVivo at Silvertone. All the hard work is done and it's time to have fun and see what YOU think...we hope y'all like it.
2. The site will feature a store and a music player very soon. If you want the disc before the PayPal store appears here, contact us. Listen NOW on our MySpace. Or check out a music store near you...starting 11.21.06.
3. Last, but not least: thanks to SPICE!, the Chronicle, Go, and GlensFallsRock.com for the CD reviews. Check out your local papers to read about the record.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
(11.7.06) Six Election Day Thoughts
1. Our first show in downtown Glens Falls happens this Friday when we take the stage at the Irish Pub for Happy Hour, beginning at 6 pm.
2. We're making some changes and additions to the site, and things may get a bit weird here over the next couple of days...please bear with us. The plans include: a new music player, blog pictures, and a photo gallery. That kind of thing. Thanks to Adam Baldwin for digging in.
3. The Angels & Fireflies CD release party...11.22.06...Mulligan's...Glens Falls...is going to be crazy. We've got special guests coming, $7 Cds and a bonus planned for the first 50 who buy the disc. Keep your eyes out for some "Flak" in the newspapers over the couple of weeks.
4. It's been one heck of a dirty election season, and it will be interesting to see who wins...Alex's home phone rec'd approx. 10 political pre-recorded messages in the two days before Election Day. Insane money being spent.
5. Thanks to our many friends in the Saratoga area who came out to Bentley's in Malta, NY last Saturday. We hope to make a return engagement soon.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
(11.2.06) Shows, CD, Party
Our CD Release Party is official and will be held at Mulligans on Shermantown Road in Glens Falls. The date? Wednesday, 11.22.06, the night before Thanksgiving. Our CD will be called Angels & Fireflies. The first 50 people who buy the disc will be rewarded with a special bonus gift. More to come on that. Wanna see the CD cover? Visit our Music page. We'll be adding a flakjacket music player to the site soon.
We play the Hogsbreath in Hampton, NY this Friday 11.3.06 w/s/g CE Skidmore and the jazz-dub-groovers 3DF straight outta Burlington/Queensbury.
On Saturday 11.4.06 we hit Malta for a show on our own at Bentley's (about one mile off of Exit 12) beginning at 9 pm. This is our first show at Bentley's and we're expecting a great turnout.
Our stickers are here and they look sick, see us at a show for the best deal going...$1 stickers featuring the new logo.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
(10.25.06) 7 Tracks
The recording is done on our debut release. We want to give the biggest thanks possible to Marc Fuller at Edie Road Recording Studio for all his work producing and engineering our debut EP over 5 days this month. It's being mixed this week, mastered next week at Silvertone and then off to duplication. We expect to have the disc for our 11/22 show at Mulligan's in Glens Falls. No title yet.
Tentative track list: 1. Distant 2. STC 3. Walking Away 4. Found 5. Apologies to Ghosts 6. Speechless 7. Law of Gravity
Session men and women: Todd Haviland (Shu), Jessica, Ginger, Marc (The Flu), Tim Irwin (Burning Man), and of course James Lafayette. It was great hanging out, great having you part of our first "official" recording, and we could not have done it w/o you guys. (:
We're all just the audience in a play...and our word is bond. But as it turns out we won't be appearing on 8Trax Live. Flakjacket is setting up a winter run of shows instead, and thanks in advance for coming out.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
(10.13.06) Busy B-stards
We're doing a show tonite at Humbugg's in South Glens Falls and heading to Edie Road Studios for the rest of the weekend. We're excited as some of the writing we've been doing will finally be ready for ya'll to hear. Our CD should be ready by late November!! More soon.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
(10.1.06) Casting Call
We're seeking an actress for our first video project. Age 21-30 years, dark features, and some acting experience preferred. Details can be obtained by emailing director Mike Cavanaugh at cavcomm@gmail.com and the deadline to apply is Oct. 8.
Congratulations to our friends The Loyalty. They won a 102.7 WEQX contest to open for the Strokes on Oct. 6, 2006 in Albany. Break a leg boys!
Thanks to the Ridge Street Coffee Company for hosting us last weekend. We had a blast.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
(9.26.06) Latte and flak
We're accustomed to playing in clubs/bars but this weekend we have one the most unique gigs we've ever done on the schedule. We'll be smack-dab in the middle of Glens Falls at Ridge Street Coffee Company Friday night. 8 PM start. Pre-game with some coffee or great food, we promise you won't be disappointed.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
(9.20.06) The Lines Blur
A completely debaucherous show last weekend, Blackcat Elliot kicked tail and CE Skidmore delivered a sweet set, as expected. All of us drank a few cocktails to say the least. What can we say about the Hogsbreath? It's the shaz. Thanks for the help with the last tune, we loved it, and we probably enjoyed it more than you did.
Progress is being made in the press kit/recording department. Alex is a busy mofo lately. Look for the CD in early 2007, and we're promising it will be worth the wait.
There may be some MAJOR news in store us in coming months. Enough said for now...we've added Bentley's in Malta, NY and the Irish Pub in Glens Falls, NY to the growing list of flak-friendly clubs.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
(9.14.06) Bullseye
We're very much looking forward to the show tomorrow evening, and as such we've decided to pull out the Letchworth Arms for the front page of the website. We'll be ripping out our newest original tune Friday. Liam on the lead vox. It's a great feeling to be doing what makes us happiest and playing shows with other bands. Thanks.
Speaking of Liam: He wrecked his car. Over and out, done...had an accident in Albany. He is fine.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
(9.13.06) Monster Show
A last-minute change for this Friday's huge show at Hogsbreath brings in Albany's Blackcat Elliot...voted the Best Live Act in Albany by the Times Union. The band won 2nd place in the same contest for the previous four years. CE Skidmore, one of our absolute favorite performers, is on the bill as well...wicked lineup. Come early! 10 PM start. We'll play the second and fourth sets.
Five shows and two new venues added...see you soon! We have a long stretch coming up. Dark beers please... (:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
(9.3.06) Mulligan's
We had a blast at Mulligan's last night, despite our breaking not only a guitar but a speaker stand due to "operator error." (Alex being the operator). We suggest spending some time at Mulligan's, GREAT atmosphere and a humongous array of drink specials, sports, and food...see ya next time. We'll keep Hyatt away from the guitars and speaker stands.
BIG SHOW Fri. Sept. 15 @ Hogsbreath with CE Skidmore and the Local Media Darlings...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
(8.28.06) Mojo Rising
Can't thank the people at the Olde Post enough for the reception they gave us last weekend. Good times. We'll be back.
Hope to see a bunch of faces at flakjacket's first show at Mulligan's Pub in Glens Falls. Great bar, opened recently, and we're looking forward to Saturday, Sept. 2. It's on Shermantown Rd. (1/2 mile from the Glens Falls Civic Center).
We're getting busier. We have been working the streets with the demo and hope we'll continue to book shows in a continually larger radius. Shows soon in new towns for us: Mechanicville NY, Rutland VT, and some new clubs in our current stomping ground. AND new songs. Plus a secret weapon TBA.
Alex says: This guy puts me in awe every time I see him perform, and I've been watching him for years at the State Fair in Syracuse. Killer. Hey Tiger...if you ever read this...Dave who?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
(8.22.06) Tons of News
The fall is here and we're putting more tracks down soon, writing is ramping up and we're starting to feel really excited about getting our recordings to you. Early plan is to make the record a really ambient, headphones-on experience.
Almost time to focus on the NFL. Go Raiders (Kyle), 'Niners (Liam) and 'Skins (Alex).
The Homegrown Music Festival in Lake George on August 13 was CRAZY. Hats off to Acoustic Trauma, Joe Mama and 3DF as well as J&M Acoustic. We enjoyed them especially. Also thanks to all the sponsors and SPICE, and Chuck V for great sound.
First time here? Check out the shows page or contact us for open dates.
Finally, thanks to Hogsbreath for allowing us to bring some friends in over the next few months, and bands looking to swap shows can contact us for details.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
(7.28.06) Feedback
Check out some new photos of the band here. Thanks for the feedback on the demos. New shows have been set for mid-to-late August.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
(7.25.06) Demos Posted!
We were tracking some other things this past weekend and decided to put a couple of our new songs down "quick and dirty." The results are on the Music page. We really like both of the songs, and we hope you do too. Thanks to Matt D'Ambrosio and Jill VanLoan for their hospitality.
We’re off for a couple of weeks, vacations, etc. Have a good late July and early August.
The demo we're passing around from Albany to Plattsburgh should reap some rewards this fall, and we'll keep you posted about any new shows.
We now have a MySpace page. Click here and leave a comment...see you soon.
(7.11.06) Wow, Long Time
Sorry we've neglected the site for so long but Little League and live shows have been taking up tons of time. We'll update more often now that we've gotten through the busiest part of summer.
We’re playing THIS Saturday July 15 at the King's Tavern on Union Avenue in Saratoga, NY. We're very happy to playing with Local Media Darlings. Show is 8:30 pm and we go on first.
The new record is delayed a bit, but should be out by late September. We're not in a hurry...
We're still a new band, so THANKS for all the kind words and encouragement so far. We're just warming up, but our 10th show is on the horizon...plenty more where that came from.
(6.1.06) Show 6.2.06
Friday's show at the Hogsbreath begins at 9 pm. We're looking forward to the it, although there have been some changes in the lineup (sorry). We didn't anticipate them. Thanks to everyone who came to Valentine's last weekend.

(5.23.06) Valentine’s Friday
flakjacket performs at Valentine’s Music Hall this Friday 5.26.06. We love the place. The legendary Valentine’s has an unrivaled selection of other great brews...but we’ll take the stuff in the plastic cups. Showtime is 5 pm.
We’ll also be recording at least a couple of tracks on Sunday and Monday: Colors and Bleach; Found, and maybe the newly arranged Walking Away. We’re staying busy. Idle hands do the devil’s work.
(5.16.06) Tracking:
Bill Frandino is producing our record due in June. We can relax and take our time, slow and low, in our own space. Bill did the first LivB album in 2000. We finished most of the first tune we wanted to work on, "Apologies to Ghosts" on Sunday. See the Projects page for some of the previous work Bill has done with flakjacket members. More shows posted.
(5.07.06) Shows added:
Don't call it a comeback...just check back often as we're making changes, adding shows, posting original music, and generally preparing to light sh*t up.
(5.06.06) FAQ:
We know. We need to get moving on our debut record. Here's a start. Hear ghosts? You will. More pics posted, don't take them too seriously. Thanks to all who came out to HB last night.
